Norton Internet Security 2010 Coupons, Speed And Forced Upgrades

Posted by admin | Internet Security | Thursday 14 October 2010 5:52 pm

I had been running Norton Internet Security 2007 for the past few years and I was quite happy with the protection it provided my PC. Yes, as it churned through my hard drive looking for suspicious files and applications, it added around five minutes to the time that it took to boot-up my computer.  My wife hated it. Her colleagues at work were trying to convince her that free programs were better, faster and, well, free! I lived with a mild resentment towards Norton but I thought that this was the price of piece of mind and being protected.

This all changed when a few weeks ago it was time to renew my product license for Norton Internet Security 2007.  The renewal process taught me a number of lessons and I thought that I’d share what I learned about Norton with others.

Lesson 1: Auto Renew and Norton Internet SecurityI was on auto-renew. This meant that all I had to do was sit back and watch my Norton Internet Security subscription rollover after 365 days was up.  Not so fast – I kept getting prompted to validate my Norton subscription even after the renewal date.  It turns out that what I needed to do was upgrade the whole application. In future I will go into my Norton customer account and turn-off the auto renew.  Why would you want to do this?  I would turn off the auto renew so that I could go to the internet, get a Norton Internet Security 2010 coupon and save a few dollars.

Lesson 2: Free Forced Upgrades Can Be A Blessing In DisguiseI was not impressed when, after repeatedly going through the validation procedure and seeing that my subscription was indeed renewed that, the actual Norton Internet Security application needed to be upgraded (fortunately at no cost to me).  I had no choice in the matter – I had to upgrade the application to continue receiving virus definition updates. I texted support and they confirmed the situation. (It was actually a very useful support session)  At least the upgrade was free. The link provided by Norton support started a download, which automatically uninstalled Norton Internet Security 2007 and installed Norton Internet Security 2010.  It was actually very simple. It was not until I went through application upgrade and rebooted that I appreciated the huge difference just in speed alone.  Once Norton Internet Security 2010 was installed, my computer went back to booting almost as quickly as it did the first day I took it out of the box!

Lesson 3: How To Protect Multiple Computers With The Same LicenseLike many other people, my household has more than one computer.  Imagine how silly I felt when I went online and purchased separate product keys for each of my computers only to discover that my product version covered protection for up to three computers on the same key! Yes, most Norton plans are actually multi-computer licenses!

Lesson 4: Norton Internet Security 2010 Is Way Faster Than The CompetitionAccording to the benchmarking study performed by PassMark Software in November 2009, “Antivirus, Internet Security and Total Security Products Performance Benchmarking (2010)” Norton Internet Security 2010 performed best over-all for both paid and free security software.  Yes – Norton Internet Security 2010 was even faster than Kapersky, BitDefender and Avast!  According to my experience, I agree that Norton has done a great job in speeding up Norton Internet Security 2010.

Lesson 5: Norton Customer Account Website – It is worth a lookThe MyNortonAccount is free – all you have to do is choose a password and you are set up. The MyNortonAccount webpage provides you with access to manage all of your Norton subscriptions in one place, enhanced customer support, easy access to product upgrades, simple tools to reinstall your Norton products and special discount offers just for Norton customers. Now, I can say that I have used most of these services and they did make my life much easier.

Lesson 6: Save Money With Norton Internet Security 2010 CouponsThis is dead easy.  Symantec has published various coupons for the family of Norton products.  All you need to know is where to go and get them.  One great source for Symantec Coupons (good in US and Canada) is www.canbuy.ca/infoframe.asp?MerchID=183 .

Now that Norton Internet Security 2010 has been proven to be the fastest antivirus software on the market coupled with the savings from the Norton Internet Security 2010 coupons, the gap between Norton Internet Security 2010 and free software is closing fast! Tell all your friends who are hanging onto their free antivirus software!

Kaspersky Internet Sexurity 2010This is exactly what I wanted. I received the product so fast – awesome!!!Kaspersky keeps me safeI love Kaspersky. It’s a very complex program that runs behind the schenes but never seems to get in my face. I love that. Sort of like a big body guard who always stays behind you. I’ve used Kaspersky for a couple of years now and would never go back to the other internet security programs.I love this Internet SecurityI have been using Kaspersky for some time… I purchased this because mine was running out and I wanted to update it… I have had good success with it… and I received this in record time and in good condition from the seller. I am a satisfied customer… Thanks!!Kaspersky Internet Security 2010-3 userI highly recommend Kaspersky! I was advised to switch from Norton Internet Security to Kaspersky or TrendMicro by my IT person. My computer was running very slowly and he pointed out that Norton runs a lot in the background which can slow down a computer, especially when using Microsoft Outlook. Norton subscription was running out so I researched both Kaspersky and TrendMicro. Kaspersky was my choice as it had better overall ratings than TrendMicro and it runs 1st to Norton in some reviews. I’ve had it for about 3 weeks. Easy install and the only thing I had to do twice was the update. Good foresight for Kaspersky to include in the instructions that you may need to run the 1st update twice, otherwise I may have been concerned. Once installed I checked out the different options. Had to go to help to learn how to setup a scheduled full scan but the instructions were simple to follow. Glad that I bought the 3-user as our other computer hard drive crashed and I was able to load Kaspersky on it after removing the Norton 30-day trial version. My computer is XP and other one is Vista. Both run a LOT faster with Kaspersky than they ever did with Norton. Again, I highly recommend this Kaspersky product.
